Five Celtic stars have been included in the Under-20 Scottish team to participate in the forthcoming Toulon Tournament this month with Brazil, Indonesia and Czech Republic set to participate.
Coach Scot Gemmill is the man to lead the youngsters to the summer event.
Aidan Nesbitt, Jamie McCart, Ross Doohan, Anthony Ralston and Joe Thompson are the Hoops stars named in the squad. Mikey Johnston missed the list as he is out injured. Scotland and Ireland are in a battle for the Scottish Premier League winner.
Kilmarnock players Greg Taylor, Adam Frizzell, Iain Wilson and Greg Kiltie were also named for the tournament. Rangers’ players Ross McCrorie and Ryan Hardie are also in.
Scotland play Czech Rep on May 31st at the Stade d’Honneur at Salon de Provence at the 45th Toulon Tournament in the south of France. The event runs from May 28 to June 10. Scotland will face Brazil next on June 3 at Stade Parsemain before their last Group C fixture against the Asians at the Stade Ladoumegue in Vitrolles.
This would be the first time in two decades that the Scottish youngsters would be playing. France, in a bid to boost attendance amongst other factors, opened the gates of the group games to everyone. Tartan Army is set to boost the number of cheering faces for the Scots at the tournament.
Group A has Angola, England, Japan and Cuba while Group B consists of Wales, Ivory Coast, Bahrain and hosts France. This is the first time that 12 teams would be participating.
