CELTIC HOPING TO SIGN UNITED’S HENDERSON IN JANUARY

claim are looking to make a huge statement by bringing in Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson on loan in the January transfer window. The Scottish club is in the hunt for top reinforcement in their goalkeeping department, and Henderson has been eyed as the man to claim their number one spot as from January.

Ex Scotland manager Alex McLeish was in an exclusive session with the assistant editor of Football Insider Russell Edge, where he weighed in on the subject. McLeish described Henderson as a fabulous goalkeeper and cited that the Red Devils young goalie had a tremendous season at Sheffield last campaign.

90Min reported earlier this week that Manchester United will be looking to send the 23-year-old goalkeeper out on another loan stint in January with opportunities getting harder to come by for him due to the upsurge in form of current number one David De Gea.

According to reports, Parkhead has been touted as a likely destination for Henderson. The Englishman returned to Manchester United having spent the past two seasons at Sheffield United. After some strings of fabulous performances, he was awarded the number one spot and the Blades even pleaded to have him for at least one more season.

He however insisted that he wanted to return and become United’s and England’s first-choice goalkeeper, but with De Gea still bossing it between the sticks, it appears to be difficult for Henderson to replace the Spanish goalie.

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate informed Henderson that if he wants to be the country’s number one goalkeeper, he would have to be playing games week in week out. As a result, he may have to be forced to go elsewhere in search of more game time. Chelsea were also interested in landing his signature but having signed Edouard Mendy in the summer, they’re no longer interested.
