After some doubts early on in the campaign, manager Ronny Deila has started to establish himself as a top manager in the Scottish league. The Celtic boss has now overseen an incredible run of form to establish a five point advantage in the league table.
Further, the club has also lifted its first silverware of the season by beating Dundee United in the League Cup final. Celtic then went on to beat the same opponents once again in the Scottish cup to reach the semifinals. They are now in a position to win at least three major trophies this campaign.
One of the major reasons for this being a reality is that Celtic have an incredible squad strength.Deila praised the strength in depth in his squad, which has allowed him to make changes constantly throughout the season. Without the help of a good squad,Deila would not have been able to maintain results in three different competitions. Celtic’s major disappointment this season, though, would be in the Europa League after the team failed to beat Inter Milan in the first knockout stages. On a positive note, exit from the European competition now provides them with the opportunity to end the season with three major titles.
“You saw that Dundee United were tired. We had more energy and we could switch the squad as well.It is important now to get some rest then get back to training and keep that up so that we can hopefully win the treble. If we can do it then it will be a big achievement. We are in a good place. There is still a lot to fight for and many games to play but everything is in our hands. It is important to see what kind of effect three games in six days has on teams,” said Deila.
